The people you surround yourself with matter. A lot.

The simple act of whom you spend your time with is who you become. If you want to change who you are, change the five or so people you spend the most time with.

If so, there's one simple rule you need to follow: surround yourself with people who have already achieved your goals, people who you admire and people who are playing the game at a higher level than you.

Surround yourself with people who have already achieved your goals, people who you admire and people who are playing the game at a higher level than you. Model someone who has already achieved the results that you want, someone who is consistently successful, because it means they have a strategy.

Figure out how they do it. Success leaves clues. If someone is effective not once, not twice but consistently in anything, they’re not lucky; they have a strategy. Study it and figure out what it is.

Of course, this isn't easy. It takes work to find and connect with these people. But it's worth it, because proximity is power.

So if you're serious about being successful, start by surrounding yourself with the right people. It's the first step on the path to success.
