I hate motivation

Motivation is a fickle mistress. Don't count on her.

It flares up – that initial burst of inspiration – and you feel unstoppable. But then BAM! Reality hits. Everything gets hard. That motivation? Poof, gone.

This is where most people fail. They chase the feeling, the high. But real success isn't about fleeting highs.

It's about longevity. It's about spending a ridiculous amount of time on the thing you want, even when it sucks.

How do you do that?

• Build systems, not goals. Motivation gets you started, but systems keep you going. (Shoutout to James Clear!)

• Embrace the process, not just the outcome. You want to be the kind of person who enjoys the journey, even when it's painful.

• Find your tribe. Having the right mentors and community can be a lifeline when your own motivation wanes.

The truth is, most of us want that "lonely at the top" success. We want to break free from the pack. That's not possible without putting in an unreasonable amount of work over an unreasonably long period of time.

So, the next time you feel that burst of motivation, harness it. Turn it into action. Then, let it fade, knowing your systems and commitment will see you through.
